Edler Herr (Honorable Lord) Parzival Angist
Persona
Parzival is a traveling courtier hailing from 14th century Germany. He has traveled far and wide across the land to serve various courts as a minter of coins, exchequer (keeper of financial records), and scholar of numismatics (study of currency, its forms and creation, and commerce). During times of relaxation in the court, he may entertain his fellows with a performance of song, music, juggling, or a demonstration of "mystical card conjuring arts".
He is a trained fencer, and is a student of both Spanish and Italian disciplines. During his travels, he is always sure to take an opportunity to learn something in the ways of both art and combat of the cultures he experiences.

Significant Accomplishments
Royal University of Midrealm Credit & Degree Database
When Parzival took up the position of Provost for the Royal University of Midrealm (RUM) in August of 2024, there were significant gaps in information on the existing credit records, having fallen out of maintenance for the past several years. He completely rebuilt the spreadsheets from the ground up, transitioning from the old manually calculated format to an automated system that would track and update degree progress as soon as an individual's credits were logged. This system can also track a participant's emphasis in the RUM colleges, credits remaining to achieve the next degree, and automatically flags duplicate information for review.
Mynydd Seren Website Rebuild
From December of 2023 to April of 2024, Parzival completely rebuilt the website for the Shire of Mynydd Seren after taking up the position of Webminister. In addition to improved visual appeal, the site now has updated officer contacts, a newcomer's guide to the Shire and the SCA, a references section full of information one may need getting started in the SCA (waivers, handbooks, links to relevant Society and Midrealm webpages, etc.), as well as research links for various A&S topics submitted by members of the Shire.

Classes Taught
Introduction to Moneying
Students learn a general overview of the practical process of striking coins. Sourcing materials, carving and hardening punches, sourcing/making blanks, striking setup, and proper striking technique is all covered. Most of the class is demonstrative, but students get to practice striking coins at the end of the class. Handout contains more details on the topics covered and links to additional learning resources.
Introduction to Leatherworking - Tools & Materials Primer
Students learn an overview of the tools & materials needed to get started in basic leatherworking, as well as the "next step" intermediate tools. A demonstration is done to show how to use punches, tooling stamps, bevelers, creasers, edge burnishers, stitch groovers, pricking irons, hole punches, and quick-set rivets. Key information on sourcing leather, types of leather, stitching techniques, tooling techniques, and (time permitting) dyes and sealants is also covered.
Beginning Kumihimo: Basic 8-Strand Braid
Students learn the basics of kumihimo with an 8-strand braid. In addition to learning the basic weaving technique, students learn how to make their own kumihimo wheels and how to plan a braid pattern.
Making a Tudor Flat Cap
Students learn how to make a basic Tudor flat-cap, sized to their own head. Depending on equipment availability, this class can be taught as a demonstration or as a hands-on activity.
Advanced Footwork for Beginners
How to turn basic footwork into natural, fluid movements. Students learn how to progress from your basic advance, retreat, and lateral steps, into walking with passing steps. Time permitting, diagonal steps are taught, and their application in reversing a gain. Class consists of both instruction and students breaking into pairs to drill and get guidance from instructor.
Introduction to La Verdadera Destreza
An introductory rapier class covering the basics of Spanish rapier techniques, primarily in the style of Rada. The core fundamentals of the destreza circle, profile stance, sword orientation and the right angle, and the atajo are all discussed. Basic application of these techniques are learned, and students break out into pairs to drill.
