Kalyani is a 13th C Indian courtesan - A Devadasi (which is a temple courtesan) from Punjab. Thomas Treighburn picked her up on Crusade and she is a ward of the church. Her name means "one who brings Good Fortune when the moonlight shines in her beautiful eyes."
