A Cap of Maintenance is worn by members of the Order of the Pelican. It is a red hat trimmed with ermine (white fur with black spots). While most often it is depicted as a 14th century pointed cap (Think "Robin Hood" would wear this) it can in practice be any sort of hat in red with ermine trim.
