The most popular form is based on the famous armor excavated at Wisby in Sweden. The coat of plates has the advantage of increased flexibility (like a Chain [[hauberk]]) while maintaining the protective ability of plate against blunt attacks. Also, since the materials and construction are relatively simple when compared to a [[cuirass]] or other plate body armor it is one of the more inexpensive choices for historically accurate body armor.
