Charge (heraldic)

A Heraldic element; anything borne on a coat of arms, whether upon the field, as was more usually the case in ancient arms, or upon on ordinary, or indeed upon another charge. The position of a charge, unless occupying the center of the field, or the fess-point, is generally described in the blazon of the arms.
