Rattan

Rattan is the springy bamboo-like substance used for armored combat purposes in the SCA. It is used for sword blades, and for the hafts of mass weapons, polearms and spears. It does not crack and splinter when broken, but instead tends to "mush" into a soft mass at the broken tip.
