Autocrat

The officer in charge of an event. More properly called the Event Steward.

The word Autocrat is an actual English term for a leader. However as this title became traditional in the SCA, it became the unfortunate habit of SCA members to therefore call any officer who does not have a medieval title in ordinary usage a [blank]-o-crat. Thus, one hears of such strange animals as the Merchant-o-crat, Feast-o-crat and Crash-o-crat. These terms are increasingly in disuse, discouraged by many members and by the kingdom newsletter, The Pale.
