A shield of unusual length or width. A shield of this size would also be called a war heater and used more or less exclusively in melees.
The use of such shields became controversial when participants in Crown Tournaments used them. Shields of this size are no longer permitted in Crown Tournaments, or fighting events using Crown Tournament rules. See shield, heater.
