A polling Order is an order where the Crown asks the advice of the members of the Order regarding who should be recognized as new members of the Order. By Corpora, the four Peerages are polling orders. Kingdoms may have other polling orders.
Polling of a Barony is when the Crown seeks the advice of the Barony's populace about selecting a new Baronial leaders (Landed Barons and/or Baronesses). Normally Baronial candidates step forward voluntarily and the populace is polled for their preference. By Kingdom Law (link to law article?) the Crown may select any of the candidates which is not substantially opposed by the Barony, though usually the popular candidate is chosen.
