The Laurel wreath is an heraldic device with special meaning within the Society for Creative Anachronism. It is used by the Order of the Laurel and also appears on the coats of arms for all SCA groups such as Baronies, Shires, and Kingdoms.

If you see someone with a laurel wreath displayed on their heraldry, the chances are that they are a King, Queen, Prince, Princess, Landed Baron or Baroness or Champion for that group.

In general the members of the populace for that group can bear it's arms without the laurel wreath.
