== Persona ==

Katalena Ivaniaia zhena Shishova (kaht-uh-LAY-nuh ee-VAHN-ee-ya zhayna shee-SHOW-vuh) is an Englishwoman living in the Novgorod region of the Kievan Rus during the late 11th/early 12th century. She was a wealthy widow with two small children when she met her husband in Normandy. She spends much of her time at their estates in the countryside while regularly traveling to the city. She is married to Ivan Shishov, a member of the druzhina (prince's retinue), and runs the family estates and commercial interests.

Her son continues to carry his father's name while a refugee of the Seljuq Empire greatly influenced her daughter and has taken a name from that place.
